Dear members and friends,
As planned, we met with two representatives of the DEM, Isabelle Anne Beck and Michele Luchs, on Thursday, December 6. This discussion, which lasted approximately 3 hours, was positive. Our association was well represented by eight people: President Ivan Cyr and his wife Angela Cyr, Vice President Bernie Meier, former President André Riendeau and his wife Stéphanie Dupont, Thamara Jeudi, Sylvie Crasci, and myself, Patrice Boileau.
The subject of homeschooling continues to be a relatively new concept for these advisors and many others at the DEM. Even so, we can state that they demonstrate open-mindedness and seek to understand all of the crucial and important elements for us as families who are actively involved in homeschooling. Their response to the recent meetings with some families and the homeschooling associations clearly shows that their knowledge and understanding are growing at an impressive rate.
We are convinced that these constructive exchanges will be useful in helping them draft the guide on good homeschooling practices. Eventually, we will be asked to review this document which will become a tool for all who have a vested interest in home education.
Please continue to pray for this work that has only just begun. Some subjects, such as the certification of studies and access to higher education, such as CEGEPS and universities, are still points of contention, in our opinion.
In addition to the DEM’s meeting with five families from our association, all families will receive a questionnaire to be answered on a voluntary basis. We will forward it to you as soon as we have received it from the DEM.
We thank you for your prayers as, together, we are laying the foundations for homeschooling for future generations.
As we are focusing on the most wonderful gift on earth, Jesus Christ the Saviour, God incarnate, I wish you a very merry Christmas and a joyful year in 2019; a year rich in blessings and filled with God’s grace.
Your brother in Him,
Patrice Boileau, Eng., MBA
