Meeting with the DEM

ampoule

Dear members and friends of ACPEQ,

As planned, we held the meeting with the two (2) representatives of the DEM, Ms. Isabelle Anne Beck and Michele Luchs on Thursday, December 6. The nearly three (3) hour talk went very smoothly. The Association was very well represented by eight (8) people: the president, Ivan Cyr and his wife Angela Cyr, the vice-president Bernie Meier, the outgoing president André Riendeau and his wife Stéphanie Dupont, Thamara Jeudi, Sylvie Crasci and her husband the undersigned.

The subject of homeschooling remains relatively new to these counselors and many others at DEM. We can still say that they show a lot of openness and seek to identify all the elements that are crucial and important for us as families engaged in home teaching. Their comments about recent meetings with families and homeschool associations clearly demonstrate that their knowledge and understanding is growing at an impressive rate.

We are convinced that the constructive exchanges will be very useful in helping them to write the guide offering good practices in homeschooling. We will eventually be called upon to validate this document which will become a tool for all involve in home education.

We invite you to continue to pray for this whole process which has only just begun. Certain subjects such as the certification of studies and access to graduate studies such as CEGEPs and universities are still contentious points in our opinion.

In addition to the five (5) families of our association that the DEM has met or is about to meet, all families will be invited on a voluntary basis to answer a questionnaire. We will send this to you as soon as we receive it from the DEM.

We thank you for your prayers as we all together lay the foundation for home teaching for our children and grandchildren.

As we highlight the greatest gift in the world, the Savior Jesus Christ, God Incarnate, I wish you a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year 2019 full of blessings, filled with the grace of God. Be richly blessed.

Friendly,

Patrice Boileau, Eng., MBA

Faithful in the little things

Don’t you find that life as a parent of young children seems like an endless cycle of small tasks?
